I’m certain this project is going to be incredibly inspiring for everyone involved and I would LOVE the chance to share my greatest passion with a part of our community (nursing homes) that we do not get to socialize with enough. Because after all, society is only as strong as all of its members cooperating together, right? “

Homestead Nursing Home
will be hosting a reading at 12pm which will be open to the public.
Most other nursing homes are happy to accommodate media during the poet’s visit -please contact the nursing home for info about visitng.

Lexington Nursing Home Poetry Tour Summer ‘09

Kickin' Poet to read at 8 Lexington Nursing Homes in 8 hours! to be followed by a public reading a the Morris book shop


Kickin' Poet needed to read both original and favored poetry at eight Lexington area nursing homes in eight hours. Poet should be prepared to read for approximately 15 minutes at each venue and to expect and encourage spontaneous interactions prior to, during and after each reading. Poet must be flexible, tireless, cranky, sincere and not to mention – one damn fine poet.………
Honorarium: $75.00

Location: Lexington, Kentucky (8 area nursing homes followed by a reading at the Morris book shop)

Bangin’ up a Storm takes its name from the lyrics of “Garage Doors” a song by Joe Zak. Zak who recently passed away at age 80 was known as perhaps the most prolific songwriter in history with as many as 40,000 songs having been attributed to him. Also known as the “world’s oldest punk rocker”, in the last decade of his life he was a lyricist, singer and friend of the NYC Ska/Punk/Bike Messenger band, Team Spider
